Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home.” (13:24)
In that one verse, I understand why when my heart is in emotional distress I find myself uttering Alhamdulilah. It is a reminder that ultimately every bit pain you feel, from physical to emotional, there is blessing in it. The hearts that beat false worship are blind to this silver lining and instead crumble under the thought, “Why is God doing this to me?”
This verse is a reminder to reframe that thinking and turn towards the ease in the difficulty. Yes, I am struggling now but I am surrounded by those who love me. Yes, I am ill now, but my sins are being forgiven. Yes, there seems no hope, but Allah is always with me.
When Allah makes a decision for us we would have never made, we must be patient because surely the outcome will be better than what we would have chose. This applies only after you’ve tied your camel. Take this choice that the All Mighty has decreed for you and greet it with gratitude.
