It’s easy to feel regret, but harder to acknowledge growth. We want to be so far removed from who once were that we don’t appreciate how hard they tried. How much effort they put in to be better? Yes, maybe current you would have excelled then, but isn’t that proof of the efforts past you did.
So here’s a love letter to who we once were.
I love you for the hard times you went through and the ways to managed. I love you for looking inwards and acknowledging the need for change. I love you for how resilient you were and still are.
I love you for the steps forward and the steps back. I love you for taking the time to make mistakes and fully learning how to overcome them. I love you for teaching me that rainy days yield the most growth. But the reason I love you most, is for not giving up.
