Situationships. The good old tale of what are we’s? The limbo of potential love. Call it what you want, but I’d argue self respect in the end always wins.
There’s no worse battle for an anxious person than to be in like with someone and not know where you stand. Even worse, to know exactly where you stand, but still have hope because of the limbo said person places you in.
The calls, the check ins, the dopamine hits when they finally respond. The back and forth and the exhilarating rush of a conquest to be had. Can I win them over? Can I get them to love me? Will that prove I am worthy of being loved?
Oh the agony of the unknown. God, why is it so fun? Am I a glutton for pain, a masochist?
Whatever the case, it can only last so long before the rose colored glasses clear. Whether in friendships or romantic relationships, you are not an option. You are not a when I have free time.
And even though it may at times be a hard pill to swallow, you are worthy of being loved. While you swallow that pill, make sure you add the sertraline or ashwagandha to settle that anxious mind of yours. Then pick your chin up and have some self respect.
